The queen bees are unmarked and untouched, supplied caged with attendants
Queen bees can be marked as an option.
Mated queen bees usually become available from June to August but it is weather dependent so supply is naturally limited.
Please note we do not hold caged queen bees on stock for immediate dispatch - they must be ordered in advance of requirement.
below - if we expect mated queen bees to be available there will be a date.
Ensure you need a queen before buying. Take our advice and first ensure your colony is queenless and needs a queen.
Do not presume your colony is queenless because you can see no brood.
If your colony was making its own new queen, she can take 3 - 4 weeks after emergence to start laying, they are not always quick so be patient.
Insert a test comb to confirm queenlessness.
This is just one good reason to maintain a minimum of two colonies.
Beginners please note that a colony of bees cannot be started with just a queen.
All livestock is disease checked and in accordance with NBU and FERA guidelines.
Queen Bees are only available for shipping to British mainland addresses.
In some years we have spare queens available early in the year before June and late in the year after August. These have been tested for use as our own production and breeder queens and are more expensive. Email us to check availability.
